The latest Coupled Model Intercomparison Phase 6 (CMIP6) is the largest and most ambitious scientific
investigation that the international climate modeling community has undertaken. The project consists of
7 core experiments that comprise the CMIP6 DECK (Diagnostic, Evaluation and Characterization of
Klima), in addition to 289 additional experiments, totaling 296 across the 23 CMIP6-endorsed model
intercomparison projects (MIPs) that encompass the project.

We will provide an overview of the CMIP6 project, the current status of experiment completion and
dataset delivery, and highlight some of the key infrastructure pieces that provide CMIP6 analysts with
the latest project information. In addition, we will highlight some fundamental improvements in the
design and management of the project relative to previous phases and describe key resources of
interest and use by analysts.
